I’m dual board-certified in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery and in otolaryngology — head and neck surgery. I operate on the face and neck, and nothing else. The second certification is the specialty of the structure itself: the planes, the nerves, and what to do when the anatomy in front of me is not the anatomy in the textbook.
